President Joe Biden laid out his vision for America in an energetic, passionate and strong vision for America and tamped down concerns about his age.
Biden criticized Trump with Russia:
What makes our moment rare is that freedom and democracy are under attack, both at home and abroad, at the same time. Across the pond, Russia’s Putin is on the march, invading Ukraine and wreaking havoc across Europe and beyond. If anyone in this room thinks that Putin will stop at Ukraine, I assure you that he will not.
But Ukraine can stop Putin if we stand by him and provide the weapons he needs to defend himself. This is all Ukraine asks for. They are not asking for American soldiers. In fact, there are no American soldiers at war in Ukraine. And I’m determined to keep it that way.

But now assistance to Ukraine is being blocked by those who want us to distance ourselves from our leadership in the world. It wasn’t long ago that a Republican president, Ronald Reagan, thundered, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.” Now, my predecessor, a former Republican president, says to Putin: “Do whatever the hell you want.” A former American president actually said this, bowing before a Russian leader. It’s scandalous. It’s dangerous. It’s unacceptable.
Those who expected a politically charged speech got the opposite.
They got a President Biden who was firm, defiant, and in full control of the State of the Union address. Biden confronted Trump about what he did during his term and the future he sees for America.
America’s oldest president is also one of its most visionary.
Biden’s optimism shone through and he clearly showed his love and pride for his country.
The speech was a home run, as he sounded like a president who deserved to be re-elected.
