Pence said on CBS’s Face The Nation that his refusal to endorse Trump was about more than 1/6:
The president and I have profound differences. Many think that January 6th just passed, and frankly, the fact that the president continues to insist that I had the right to overturn the election that day is a key difference.
I want to make it clear that I have forgiven the president in my heart for what happened that day. As a Christian I am obligated to do so. I prayed for him about it. The question of the Constitution is not a trivial matter, but it is not just that.

I mean, the reason why I can’t in good conscience support Donald Trump this year also has to do with the fact that on that day he is walking away not only from upholding the Constitution, but also, Margaret, from a commitment to fiscal policies. responsibility, a commitment to the sacredness of life, a commitment to American leadership in the world.
Pence continued to criticize Trump for changing his stance on China and TikTok.
