Last week, transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, who famously cost Bud Light’s parent company Anheuser-Busch more than $1.4 billion in sales last year, was excited to release the song “Days Of Girlhood “. Now, though, Mulvaney is already backing down and admitting that it’s the “most annoying song ever.”

“The fact that both conservatives and liberals can probably agree that this is potentially the most annoying song ever is no small feat,” Mulvaney, 27, said in a video posted to TikTok, according to the Daily Mail.

Mulvaney went on to say that although the song is full of “silly lyrics”, it was meant to be “fun” and reminiscent of Cyndi Lauper’s 1983 hit “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”.

“I don’t think femininity or adolescence are thought of as silly, frivolous things,” Mulvaney explained. “I still think we should be able to enjoy these things. And I probably could have written a song about my pain or my trauma. But I didn’t want to.”

That said, Mulvaney admitted that it’s a “really bad song” in the eyes of many, and that it comes down to the transgender influencer’s “bad musical taste.”

Mulvaney’s song slammed

This came a week after Mulvaney released the song, which included lyrics about women who “spend too much” and need “retail therapy” and have to “take medicine” and deal with a “nervous breakdown”. Mulvaney went on to claim that women “flirt over drinks” and discuss a “walk of shame” after spending a night with a man despite not even knowing her “name.”

Mail columnist Amber Duke later weighed in to criticize the song’s “misogyny”, saying it came from someone “playing a biological woman”. Duke added that the song is full of “classic sexist tropes” that “women are addicted to clothes” and “can’t control their emotions.”

“Newsflash: Biological women don’t need a crash course in ‘how to be a girl.’ We were born this way,” Duke wrote. “Of course, we learn from our mothers and our mentors how to deal with puberty, menstruation and pregnancy. But these are biological realities that Mulvaney will never experience.”

Mulvaney costs Anheuser-Busch $1.4 billion

Anheuser-Busch lost more than $1.4 billion in sales last year after Bud Light teamed up with Mulvaney for a partnership in April 2023. CNN reported that when Anheuser-Busch InBev (BUD) reported revenue record for 2023, the company admitted that its “full growth potential has been limited” by its US operations, with sales hurt by the Bud Light boycott launched over its partnership with Mulvaney.

“In the US, performance remains very disappointing, with revenues declining at double-digit rates as the group has lost market share,” said Aarin Chiekrie, equity analyst at online investment platform Hargreaves Lansdown.

Anson Frericks, Anheuser-Busch’s former president of operations, admitted last summer that Bud Light made a “mistake” by partnering with Mulvaney.

“[Bud Light] it was the biggest brand in the United States because it was remarkably apolitical,” he said. “It was always about sports, about music, about bringing people together. That’s why it was a mistake to do this campaign because they weren’t able to come out ”.

“This campaign was a mistake,” Frericks continued. “Anheuser-Busch will not do campaigns like this in the future. We’ll get back to the things that bring everyone together. We hope that this will protect jobs at Anheuser-Busch, jobs at wholesalers and get this company growing in the right direction again.”

What Mulvaney is doing continues to be an insult to biological women everywhere. It’s baffling that a real woman would support Mulvaney, especially after the blatant sexism of the transgender influencer’s song “Days Of Girlhood.”
