(Reuters) -South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix, a supplier to Nvidia (NASDAQ:), is planning to invest about $4 billion to build an advanced chip packaging plant in West Lafayette, Indiana, the Wall reported on Tuesday Street Journal.
Operations at the facility could begin in 2028, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.
SK Hynix did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
The facility is expected to create 800 to 1,000 new jobs, according to the report.
The report quotes an SK Hynix spokesperson as saying that the company is “reviewing its investments in advanced chip packaging in the United States, but has not yet made a final decision.”
