A new poll has revealed that Donald Trump would beat Michelle Obama in a hypothetical 2024 campaign matchup if he decides to run for president later this year.
Trump would defeat Obama if he ran
A Daily Mail poll of 1,000 likely voters found that Obama would lose to Trump by three points in a hypothetical matchup. That’s the same margin President Joe Biden would lose to Trump by, according to the poll.
“Some have long argued for an emergency parachute for Biden: Michelle Obama’s blueprint,” said pollster James Johnson, co-founder of JL Partners. “But it turns out that voters are no more willing to vote for Michelle over Trump than they are for Biden, with Trump beating her overall and even among independents.”
“It’s never been very realistic, but this poll disproves the idea that she could be some sort of saving force for Democrats,” he added.
Obama refuses to run for president
Democrats have long believed that Obama would defeat anyone if he ever decided to run for president. Many on the left hoped she would throw her hat into running this year amid concerns about Biden’s advanced age and his ability to win reelection, but Obama has consistently said he has no plans to run for office .
“As former First Lady Michelle Obama has expressed repeatedly over the years, she will not run for president,” Crystal Carson, communications director of the former First Lady’s office, told NBC News last month. “Ms. Obama supports the re-election campaigns of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.”

However, Obama has openly expressed his fears about this year’s election.
“What will happen in the next elections? I’m terrified of what might happen, because our leaders matter,” she said in January. “Who we select, who speaks for us, who holds that bully pulpit, influences us in ways that sometimes I think people take for granted. “
“The fact that people think the government actually does something? And I say, “Oh my God, the government does everything for us.” And we cannot take this democracy for granted. And sometimes I’m afraid that’s the case,” she continued. “These are the things that keep me awake.”
Last year Obama told Oprah Winfrey that “politics is tough.”
“You have to want it,” he said, according to the Washington Examiner. “It has to stay in your soul because it’s so important. It’s not in my soul.”
In 2019, Obama said there was “zero chance” she would ever run for president.
“There are so many ways to improve this country and build a better world, and I continue to do many of them, from working with young people to helping families lead healthier lives,” she said. “But sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office will never be one of them. It’s just not for me.
In 2022, Obama said she “hates” being asked if she will run for president.

Considering how big Obama’s ego is, however, this poll will likely come as devastating news for her. Ultimately, she may not be as popular as she and fellow Democrats think she is, so it’s no surprise that Trump would demolish her if she ever decides to run for president!
