As readers of The political insider I am aware, President Biden and former Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and Donald Trump all appeared in New York late last week.
Trump attended the funeral of New York police officer Jonathan Diller. The officer was tragically shot and killed in the line of duty on March 25 while conducting a traffic stop in Queens.
By contrast, Biden, Obama and Clinton were all in town for a Democratic fundraiser with tickets ranging in price from $225 to a half-million.
While the opposing outlook was bad enough for Biden, a new video shows the president laughing with Stephen Colbert at one of his campaign receptions. While Trump consoled the family of a murdered police officer, Biden mocked Trump’s golf game in front of wealthy donors.
Even Biden didn’t hide it. In fact, he thought his written jokes were so good that he highlighted them on his X account.

Let’s examine the exchange, shall we? Keeping in mind that Stephen Colbert often claims to be a comedian. Colbert’s comedy is what a stupid person thinks a smart person sounds like. That’s what you’d get if you ordered Jon Stewart in Temu.
Note the setup. Colbert desperately wants you to think that Biden is a doer. His rigorous travel schedule, as you see, is proof of this.
“After the State of the Union, President Biden, you got busy,” Colbert says. “You’ve been to Raleigh, Saginaw, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Hotlanta, suburban Philly, Manchester, Dallas and Houston.”
“Donald Trump, as far as we know, just tried to win a third championship on his golf course.”
Reality, sir, can be brutal. Everyone knows that President Biden spends most of his time cuddled in the basement. And he spent over 40% of his presidency on vacation.
Then came Biden’s big moment. The joke about Trump’s golf game. Colbert happily led him to the punchline.
“Can voters trust a presidential candidate who hasn’t won a single Trump International Golf Club trophy? Finally, sir, don’t you have the chipshot?” she jokes, while the mindless seals clap in the background.
“Well, look, I would be happy to play,” Biden replies. “I told him before, when he walked into the Oval when he was – before he was sworn in. I said, ‘I’ll give you three strikes if you carry your bag.'”
Now, we all know that didn’t happen. And we appreciate that Colbert’s writers had to feed him something to keep him awake.
But if Biden played an entire round of golf, chances are he would suffer three shots.

Biden has no intention of making connections with Trump. He can’t climb the kid stairs of Air Force One, let alone play a round of golf.
The President, however, also played off Colbert’s statement that he is simply too busy these days.
After the laughter died down after Biden’s epic golf shot, he added, “And I’ve only played 21 holes since I’ve been president.”
So that’s it. Biden challenged Trump to a game of golf. He believes he can beat him even though he is very busy and hasn’t trained. Oh, and as any golfer knows, he played a 21-hole round, I guess? Or one round and three extra holes?
Once again, reality. Politico reported in October 2021 that Biden had by then already played 10 rounds of golf since taking office.
So yes, none of what has been said is true. But he gave his all. He really wants his voters and old Colbert fans to really get to know him AND the edgy character of Dark Brandon.
While all this was happening, Officer Diller’s family was praising Trump for showing compassion. While Biden joked about golf and rubbed elbows with Colbert and Lizzo, Trump prayed with his family.
“It was a great honor to be with each of you yesterday,” the former president wrote in response on Truth Social.
NBC News reports that President Biden is so desperate to reverse his terrible poll numbers, that his campaign has no choice but to try to get “under Trump’s skin.”
In reality, he is stepping into the shoes of clear-headed Americans who recognize an out-of-touch elitist who continually lies when they see one.
