Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) was in the spotlight Tuesday when Jon Stewart said the tech giant asked him not to interview Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Lina Khan on his show and discuss a range of topics, including artificial intelligence.
“I have to I’m telling you, I wanted to have you on a podcast and Apple asked us not to, to have you. They literally said, ‘please don’t talk to her,’” Stewart She said in an interview on his show, The daily show. “I don’t think they cared about you.”
“They wouldn’t have let us do that stupid thing we did in Act One about artificial intelligence,” Stewart added, referring to this segment.
Apple shares fell by 0.7% in early trading Tuesday.
Stewart had a show on Apple TV+, The problem with Jon Stewart, which lasted two seasons. Apple has decided not to renew the show for a third season in October 2023 due to “creative differences,” according to the New York Times, citing people familiar with the matter.
The 61-year-old comedian returned to The daily showproduced by Paramount (PARA) (PARAA), in February.
Stewart’s comments come as Apple is under intense scrutiny from the US government, with the Justice Department launching a landmark antitrust case against the company last month.
Apple did not immediately respond to Seeking Alpha’s request for comment.
