Joe Biden’s campaign seems to think it can turn the state of Florida blue in the 2024 election. That’s a pretty bold statement to make today.
Florida is now a solidly red state that voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020. The state has only become more Republican since then.
It’s hard to tell whether the Biden folks are serious or just trying to appear confident in Joe’s chances in November.
FOX News reports:
Biden’s campaign believes the president could turn Florida blue, citing Trump’s legal and financial problems
President Biden’s campaign believes it can turn Florida from solid red to blue.
Biden’s team claims it can beat the presumptive Republican nominee, former President Trump, due to his ongoing legal problems and financial sanctions.
“Make no mistake: Florida is not an easy state to win, but it is a winnable state for President Biden, especially considering Trump’s weak, cash-strapped campaign and serious vulnerabilities within his coalition,” he wrote Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez in a memo this week. According to the campaign, Democratic coalitions are “growing and strengthening.”
Rodriguez went on to say that Florida is “a state where President Biden has a compelling record of achievement, the extreme agenda of Trump and Rick Scott is making life worse for Floridians, and the Democratic coalition is growing and strengthening “, according to the report.
Team Biden’s efforts to flip Florida will likely be an uphill battle: The Sunshine State has become a Republican stronghold in recent years, even as it has a long history of color changes.
Does Joe really have a chance in Florida?
Coming from someone who lives in South Florida, this will never happen, this state is solid red. https://t.co/uSWkgp8yZO

Florida Republicans have an 855,000 voter advantage over Democrats. That’s absolutely not possible, Joe. https://t.co/gZenu9MFur

It seems far-fetched, but Republicans can’t take anything for granted.
And the Democrats cheat.
