Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel is perplexed as to why Donald Trump is beating Joe Biden in the polls in a number of key swing states.
States that will be crucial to the outcome of the 2024 presidential elections.
“How can it be?” he asks.

Jimmy Kimmel is shocked
Kimmel’s Wednesday night monologue focused on many of Trump’s former associates who have spoken out against him. These people lead him to joke that the former president “isn’t even first in a poll of people who worked for him.”
The host said he got a “headache” after seeing the polls published Monday by the Wall Street Journal. Those polls show Trump ahead of Biden in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
Politico reports: “Former President Donald Trump has a slight lead or is tied with President Joe Biden in seven swing states, according to new Wall Street Journal poll released Tuesday evening.”
The story continues:
Trump’s lead in six of the seven competitive states varies, from a 6 percentage point lead in North Carolina to just 1 percentage point in Georgia, among respondents who asked who they would support in a matchup between the two. Biden is tied with Trump in Wisconsin with 46% support each.
The margin of error for each of the states was plus or minus 4 percentage points. The poll was conducted via phone and text from March 17-24 and included 600 registered voters each from Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Biden won six states in the 2020 presidential election, with only North Carolina going to Trump.

Comparison between Trump’s and Biden’s approval ratings
While it might confuse Jimmy Kimmel, it’s no big mystery why Trump is ahead of Biden overall, let alone swing states.
The economy was better under Trump than under Biden. Furthermore, many other things were better under Trump than under Biden.
And many, it seems, think so. Just look at the approval ratings.
More from Politico: “The poll also asked for approval of both Biden and Trump in office. On average, respondents had a more favorable view of Trump’s time in office, with 51% saying they approved of the job he’s done, compared to 38% for Biden.
This may be a mystery to elites like Jimmy Kimmel. It’s no mystery to ordinary Americans.
