Trump and the Republicans want to focus on the economy, but Biden’s boom continues while the American economy has exceeded 15 million jobs created during the Democratic presidency.
Biden reacted to the March jobs numbers in a statement:
Today’s report marks a milestone in America’s comeback. Three years ago I inherited an economy on the brink of collapse. With today’s report of 303,000 new jobs in March, we have surpassed the milestone of 15 million jobs created since I took office. That’s 15 million more people enjoying the dignity and respect that comes with a paycheck.
My plan is to grow the economy from the center up and from the bottom up, investing in all Americans and giving the middle class a fair chance. Unemployment remained below 4% for the longest period in more than 50 years. Wages are rising. Inflation has fallen significantly.

We’ve come a long way, but I won’t stop fighting for hard-working families. I’m taking steps to reduce costs, from lowering the price of insulin, inhalers and prescription drugs, to eliminating junk taxes. I call on big corporations to pass on their record profits to consumers. And I will continue to oppose congressional Republicans’ efforts to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and implement massive tax breaks for the wealthy and large corporations.
Biden made history, but the President is right. Companies continue to use inflation as an excuse to keep profits and prices high. The next step for the administration will be to crack down on multinationals that fix prices by defrauding American consumers.
What President Biden accomplished was historic and blows away Trump’s narrative that the country was better off four years ago. COVID is still around, but people are not stuck in their homes, unemployed, sick and dying from coronavirus like they were four years ago.
The “you’re better off” argument is a standard non-incumbent presidential campaign tactic, but Biden’s employment numbers suggest that the answer to Trump’s question is that Americans are significantly better off now than they were four years ago, and if given a second term and a Congress with a Democratic majority, things could be even better.
