The new campaign fundraising numbers are in, and they convey excitement for the Biden-Harris campaign.
The incumbents’ campaigns face many challenges, but at this point in the quarter they have also raised more than any other Democratic candidate in history, and 40% of donors are new to this cycle. So far, in fact, 1.6 million people have contributed to their campaign.
The campaign raised $187 million in the first quarter of 2024.
Biden-Harris raised $90 million in March, while Trump raised $65 million.

Biden-Harris has $192 million in cash, while Trump has $93 million.
$422 million since April launch is “the highest amount ever for a Democratic presidential candidate.”
About 40% of donors in this cycle are new from 2020. “We’ve seen a lot of new donors pop up since the race consolidated,” said Rob Flaherty, Biden-Harris’ 2024 deputy campaign manager. “I think we’re getting money from a wide variety of people who care about our democracy and what’s at stake in this election.”
What does this mean? That’s huge enthusiasm for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, telling a very different story than the lackluster poll-driven Beltway narratives.
That gives Democrats $192 million in cash, which they describe as “more than any Democratic candidate in history at this point in the cycle and more than double Trump’s war chest.”
The campaign highlighted a stark contrast between their grassroots fundraising and Republican opponent and former President Donald Trump, who is “approaching billionaires tonight to raise his money.”
“It really seems like the Trump campaign is hiding behind some billionaires at Mar-a-Lago and is struggling to attract the grassroots donor enthusiasm that fuels winning campaigns,” said Rob Flaherty, deputy director of the Biden-Harris 2024 campaign “Unlike Trump, we have nothing to hide and everything to be proud of: our program is demonstrating historic strength and sending a clear signal that our coalition is motivated and growing every month.”
But the billionaires won’t give up. Donald Trump is cutting taxes and less regulation. He has more money and power for them. So, Donald Trump is expected to see a huge infusion of cash after a fundraiser in Palm Beach this Saturday targeting billionaires, which has already raised $43 million according to CNN.
“Every single penny you donate to the Biden-Harris reelection campaign, we spend talking to voters,” Biden campaign finance chairman Rufus Gifford said on MSNBC. The weekend with Symone Sanders.
While billionaires’ wallets will be opened to clear the way for Trump to get out of legal trouble and return to power, the real story of these fundraising numbers is the enthusiasm of The People. The enthusiasm of real voters is for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, it is for democracy and it is for freedom.
But it will be a struggle.
