“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” retained its place as the No. 1 film. 1 in the US for the second consecutive week. The Monster Movie, distributed by Warner Bros. (NASDAQ: WBD) and Legendary Pictures, grossed approximately $31.7 million to boost its domestic total to $135 million, according to data compiled by Comscore.
Actor-director Dev Patel’s “Monkey Man,” a revenge thriller released by Universal Pictures (CMCSA), opened in second place with an estimated $10.1 million at 3,029 theaters.
Sony’s “Ghosbusters: Frozen Empire” ranked third with $9 million in its third weekend, for a total of $88.8 million domestically.
In fourth place is “The First Omen” from Disney’s 20th Century Studios (DIS) with an estimated gross of $8.4 million from 3,375 theaters. The horror film is a prequel to “The Omen”, released in 1976 and starring Gregory Peck and Lee Remick.
Warner Bros.’ “Dune: Part Two” added $7.2 million in its sixth week, bringing its domestic total to $264 million.
Estimated ticket sales cover Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters. The final box office numbers will be released on Monday.
