Amazon’s best-selling Tiny Home costs more than half as much

A house in an Amazon box?

A tiny Amazon home measuring 19 feet by 20 feet is now selling for $23,000 less than its asking price in January, according to data compiled by Entrepreneur from third-party price tracker Keepa. The Jaxenor manufactured home was priced at about $35,000 earlier this year, but fell to $11,550 on Thursday.

The tiny house, which is delivered folded neatly in a box and expands outward, weighs nearly 8,000 pounds and requires the buyer to set up a crane to unload it.

Advertised as a possible guest house, office or backyard workshop, the house was listed at the time of this writing as Amazon’s No. 1 bestseller in backyard homes.

The small house is made of a steel structure and fireproof cladding panels, with waterproofing and thermal insulation. The seller claims the home is earthquake resistant (grade 8), wind resistant (grade 10), and capable of withstanding a heavy snow load of up to 6.6 feet.

The house includes a small bathroom with shower, sink and toilet set up for water connection, but does not include electrical circuits, furnishings or installations. The design incorporates multiple windows and folds away if the buyer wishes to move the unit.

With home prices on the rise and inflation rising faster than expected, prospective homebuyers are expressing interest in tiny homes.

Youtuber Unspeakable, who has 17.2 million subscribers, posted a video two months ago of himself and his friends opening a tiny Amazon house.

Last week, he documented spending 24 hours in the tiny house and found that even when a tree fell on the house, the house remained standing, although the tree created a dent in the roof. The house didn’t appear to be completely waterproof, however, as the Unspeakable team blasted it with snow.

The unboxing video from the house of Unspeakable also received over 13.6 million views on both YouTube and X, now Twitter, sparking reactions for example“This is pretty much the only house I will ever be able to afford.”

Their home, which is listed as a Chery Industrial Expandable Prefab House, was going for $18,000 with a $1,000 coupon on Amazon as of this writing — a drop from January’s price of $40,000, according to Keepa statistics compiled from Entrepreneur.
