A mass attack at the Westfield Bondi Junction shopping mall in Sydney, Australia occurred on Saturday afternoon local time. Several people, including a child, were reportedly injured in the attacks, and several were killed. The man with the knife was reportedly shot dead in the mall by a policewoman who quickly responded to reports of the attack.

During a press conference on Saturday evening local time, police said five people were killed and several other injured people were taken to hospital, including a child. Police said the man with the knife was believed to have acted alone, however said they had no information on him at the time of the briefing, nor did they have evidence of motive. The policewoman shot the man when he turned and raised the knife at her.

A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said eight victims were taken to hospital and six were pronounced dead at the scene. These numbers may change as more information is developed.
