A London Metropolitan Police officer, whose name has not been released, has been placed on restricted duty after being accused of stealing money from the wallet of a dead cyclist. Claudio Gaetani had a heart attack while riding his bike. Officers who responded to the call confiscated his passport and wallet but allowed his friends to keep his bicycle and backpack. When one of his friends later went to collect the wallet, he claimed that some money was missing. The case was referred to the Crown Prosecution Service after surveillance footage allegedly showed an officer counting the money.
