Although a couple million Trump supporters live within an hour of Monday’s trial, only an estimated 50 showed up.
Lawrence O’Donnell shared:
The revolution will not be broadcast. Because they didn’t show up. A couple million Trump voters live within an hour of the courthouse. Maybe 50 arrived. pic.twitter.com/V0bEdjvbTV

This lukewarm show of support is nothing new for Trump during his legal battles, it began last year.
Part of this could be attributed to the fact that as of January 2024, approximately “749 federal defendants had their cases adjudicated and received sentences for their criminal activity on January 6. Approximately 467 were sentenced to prison terms,” according to the District of Columbia.
So it may be that Trump supporters fear legal consequences for any potential mafia-type activity they might become entangled in, which would be an ironic result of Trump supporters confusing peaceful protests with what Trump and his supporters actually did done on January 6, as described by Dir. Wray as a terrorist attack.
The other side of this is that this may be more than what we are seeing on the ground in Trump country, which is a sharp decline in visible support from even his most ardent supporters.
This may be due to Trump fatigue, which is not the same as someone who will no longer vote for their candidate. But no political candidate would hope to go to election without the enthusiasm of his biggest supporters.
Some responded that while Trump supporters didn’t show up in large numbers, Trump critics definitely made an appearance:

Donald Trump is being held up as a viable political candidate by the party he took over and by a vile media that is after Trump’s money thanks to his 2016 campaign and four chaotic years. Neither the Republican Party nor the media seems to realize that Trump supporters are tired too.
Everyone is tired of Donald Trump. Including himself, apparently, as he was reportedly caught sleeping during his own trial.
