The Daily Beast hires full-time reporter Lauren Sánchez

Lauren Sánchez has found herself in the public eye, thanks to her high-profile engagement to Amazon founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos — and now a national news outlet is looking for a trained journalist to cover her every move.

The daily beast announced it is looking to hire a full-time senior reporter to cover Sánchez and his day-to-day activities, from business to social media to space.

“The Beast plans to cover tech moguls and their ecosystem, as part of the site’s return to its roots as a ‘smart tabloid,’” according to Axios.

This follows trends from other publications, such as USAToday and the Tennessee, who have hired specialist Taylor Swift and Beyoncé reporters in an effort to ensure comprehensive coverage of the topic is reported.

Not much is known about the specifics of the role, although Joanna Coles, the outlet’s new head of content, wrote on Instagram that she would be accepting applications via editorial@thedailybeast.com and told the New York Post that the benefits and salary would be comparable to other senior positions listed at the company, which range from $100,000 to $200,000.

“I have never seen anyone land on Americans’ radar as quickly and as brightly as Lauren Sánchez,” said Coles, former chief content officer at Hearst Magazines. “I’m just very excited to find out everything about her. There’s no detail too small that I’m not fascinated by.”

Sánchez is a licensed pilot and former television host who he currently serves as vice president of the Bezos Earth Fund, which just announced that it will donate $100 million to AI efforts fighting climate change.
