Announcer Joe Buck says he’s more than willing to not be in Las Vegas for Sunday’s Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs.
“I have no desire to be there,” Buck said on a radio show.
“There’s a lot of logistics. There is a lot of congestion,” she said.
“I’m not like that. I’m not looking for Maxim’s party and going out all night. It’s not really my thing and then you combine it with Vegas,” he told her.
“I don’t know, but there’s going to be a story, there’s going to be something that happens because it’s Las Vegas and it’s not going to stay in Las Vegas. It’s going to be something big that’s going to happen. I don’t know what it is. I have no idea. I just think it’s going to be a disaster, in my mind,” she said.
To date, the most talked about incident was a fire alarm that went off at 6 a.m. Thursday at the 49ers’ hotel, with the theory that it was intentional.
On Wednesday, Maison DesChamps, who calls himself “The Official Pro-Life Spider-Man,” scaled the exterior of the Sphere headquarters, which stands 366 feet tall. The climb passed without incident and he was subsequently arrested, according to KABC-TV.
The Sunday before the game, police arrested a man named Jesse Ponce for making a public threat, but the circumstances were trespassing charges after challenging people to a bar fight, according to KSNV-TV.
Security is obviously tight for the event, with officials asking for cooperation to keep the skies clear.
“Please leave your drones, umbrellas, selfie sticks and weapons of any kind at home,” Cathy Lanier, the NFL’s chief security officer, said Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. “The Super Bowl is a no-drone zone.”
Karon Ransom, the Secret Service agent in charge in Las Vegas, said about 750 federal law enforcement officers were working to protect the event.
The risk of a terrorist attack is always present, one expert noted, according to USA Today.
“There are so many different parties that want to inflict harm on America. What better way to generate publicity than one of the biggest games in the United States? This was stated by Gil Fried, a professor at the University of West Florida and a specialist in sports facility management.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said officials had “identified no specific or credible threats.”
Temporary flight restrictions are also in place.
However, that won’t stop pop czarina Taylor Swift, whose boyfriend, Travis Kelce, plays for the Chiefs.
On Saturday evening, a private plane TMZ said Swift fans believe hers was headed from Japan to Los Angeles, with the expectation of making the flight in time to rest up in Los Angeles before making the short hop to Las Vegas Sunday.
