Marco Rubio embarrasses himself by defending Trump’s attack on NATO

Senator Marco Rubio turned in all directions as he defended Trump by saying he would allow Russia to invade NATO allies.

Rubio said on CNN’s State Of The Union:

That’s not what happened. That’s not how I see the statement. She was talking about a story that she talked about that happened in the past. By the way, Donald Trump was president and he didn’t take us out of NATO. In fact, American troops were stationed throughout NATO and he tells a story. Frankly, look, Donald Trump is not a member of the Council of Foreign Relations. He doesn’t speak like a traditional politician. We’ve been there before. You think people would understand that.

If you see the comments, he said that NATO was bankrupt or bankrupt until he took over because people weren’t paying their debts and then he told the story of how he used leverage to get people to step up and become more active in NATO. He is not the first American president, in fact, virtually every American at some point has complained in some way that other countries and NATO are not doing enough. Trump is precisely the first to express it in these terms. I’m not worried. He has been president in the past. I know exactly what he has done and what he will do with the NATO alliance. It has to be an alliance. Not the defense of America with small junior partners. These are small countries. The Germans are doing a lot right now.

It was embarrassing to watch Rubio turn around and act dumb.

Trump doesn’t understand Russia, NATO or international relations.

NATO is not Mar-a-Lago.

It’s not a club where people pay a fee to join. NATO is a strategic defense alliance. It’s not conditional. Rubio knows all this, and he also knows that Trump tried to destroy NATO and divide its members during his presidency.

It is a shame for NATO that Marco Rubio wants Trump to endanger global and national security, but this is what the senator from Florida did, justifying and defending Trump’s statements.
