During last night’s Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg appeared in a powerful ad encouraging people to pray.

Wahlberg’s Super Bowl commercial

People Magazine reported that during the Super Bowl, Wahlberg starred in a commercial for Hallow, a Catholic app for prayer, meditation, music and sleep. He appeared in the ad alongside actor Jonathan Roumie, known for his portrayal of Jesus Christ on TBN’s “The Chosen.” series.

Wahlberg, 52, begins the announcement in a church, where he blesses himself before beginning to pray while sitting in a pew, according to the Daily Mail.

“God, let’s take this moment just to thank you. We thank you for this time spent together as family, as friends and as a country,” Wahlberg is heard saying.

“Help us Lord, especially in this Lent, to draw closer to you. Amen», he continues. “Join us in prayer this Lent on the day of Sanctification. Stay prayed.

As Wahlberg speaks, the ad shows a family praying around a table, a crowd cheering at a sporting event, and servicemen and women kneeling in prayer. A priest can then be seen placing ashes on Roumie’s head, who has his eyes closed and appears peaceful.

Most Holy App

The Hallow app reportedly offers prayer on the go and gives users the opportunity to personalize their prayer experience through a tailored daily prayer routine. The app allows users to “connect with friends and family” and create “personalized family groups.”

“Hallow’s goal has always been to reach as many people as possible, both those who take their faith seriously and especially those who may have drifted away, and invite them to enter more deeply into a relationship with God,” Alex Jones , Hallow co. -founder and CEO, told the New York Post.

“When we learned of the timing of the Big Game this year, we couldn’t have been more excited to work with Mark and Jonathan to use it as an opportunity to call millions of people to prayer,” he continued.

Wahlberg’s Christian faith

Wahlberg has long been open about his strong Christian faith.

“It’s a balance. I don’t want to shove this down anyone’s throat, but I don’t deny my faith. This is an even greater shame,” Wahlberg said last year.

“You know, it’s not popular in my industry, but I can’t deny my faith. It’s important for me to share that with people,” she continued. “But I have friends from all walks of life and all different types of faiths and religions, so it’s important to respect and honor them too.”

As for what his faith means to him, Wahlberg said, “It’s everything, it’s offered me so many things.”

“God did not come to save saints, he came to save sinners,” he concluded. “We’ve all had problems in our lives and want to be better versions of ourselves, and focusing on my faith has allowed me to do that.”
