New York Times publisher AG Sulzberger said Monday that the paper will continue to attack President Joe Biden over his age.
Sulzberger said in an interview:
“We will continue to report fully and fairly, not just on Donald Trump but
even about President Joe Biden,” Sulzberger said in an interview with the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.

“He is a historically unpopular president and the oldest man to ever hold this office. We talked extensively about both of these realities, and the White House was extremely troubled by it.”
Biden is not historically unpopular. The editor of the New York Times was lying. Gallup found that Donald Trump’s approval rating was 34%, and Trump had the lowest average ever recorded for a president at 41%, hence the claim that Biden is getting such negative coverage from the Times due to historical unpopularity it is false.
The numbers show that the New York Times coverage is not fair
The second point Sulzberger made about the fairness of the Times’ coverage was also false. The New York Times has published at least 17 stories related to Joe Biden’s age in the past week.
The New York Times published 0 articles on Donald Trump’s age in the previous week.
The only piece that surfaced questioning Trump’s age and fitness for office was a September 11, 2023 opinion piece by Frank Bruni.
The New York Times was less than fair when it discussed the ages of the two oldest men who would seek the presidency.
Discussing the ages of both Biden and Trump is appropriate because regardless of who wins, the country will be in new territory.
More options than supporting the New York Times
The New York Times could have a fair discussion about both candidates. The newspaper instead decided to try to sabotage the Biden presidency.
