US stocks tumble after tech sell-off ahead of Nvidia earnings

US stocks fell on Tuesday, with chipmaker giant Nvidia posting its worst day since October ahead of its quarterly earnings report on Wednesday.

The blue-chip S&P 500 fell 0.6%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell 0.9%, both led by a sell-off in technology stocks.

Chipmaker Nvidia fell 4.4%, its worst day in four months ahead of tomorrow’s earnings report, as traders bet the company may fail to meet lofty market expectations.

Nvidia shares have risen sharply in recent months, hitting an all-time high last week, as investors bet it will be one of the biggest U.S. beneficiaries of the artificial intelligence boom.
