Utah Senator Orrin Hatch, from 1977 to 2019, was a staunch supporter of originalist judges and the rule of law during many Senate confirmation fights. Senator Hatch fought for traditional American values and, like Donald Trump, always wanted to make America great again. Unfortunately, when Hatch retired due to old age, the inept RINO Mitt Romney was elected to replace him. Romney voted twice to impeach President Donald Trump, and was a longtime loser. Romney lost a winnable U.S. Senate race to Ted Kennedy in 1994 in Massachusetts, promising to be more pro-gay rights than Kennedy and failing to defend the outsourcing of American jobs to China when he was a businessman. And he lost the US presidency to Barack Obama, in 2012, once again because of outsourcing American jobs to China as a businessman and because he implausibly claimed to be the leading conservative social race, without ever bothering to explain his change of heart by Barack Obama. 1994. Mitt Romney has always been, and will always be remembered, as a big loser. Now is the perfect time to consider the candidacy of Senator Hatch’s eldest and most conservative son, Brent Hatch.
Brent is a top-notch attorney who graduated from Columbia Law School and who clerked for Judge Robert H. Bork in 1984-1985 on the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. After working as clerks, we both had the great privilege of working as political appointees in high-level positions in Ed Meese’s Department of Justice under President Ronald Reagan. Brent went on to serve as White House Associate Counsel under Senior President Bush. He became one of my closest friends and was the groomsman at my wedding in 1995.
Brent loves to hunt and has many proud trophies, including a huge stuffed boar that he shot himself. He is as fiery as ever when it comes to Second Amendment rights. Brent is also a former bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is as socially conservative as Judge Bork was. Brent is a brilliant trial lawyer who started his own law firm and has amassed a fortune in the process. He has lived continuously in Utah for the past thirty years in a mansion on top of a hill overlooking Salt Lake City. But what Brent really loves to do is ride his motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and work in his yard. When my daughter visited him a few years ago, he entered her into an ax throwing competition where you won a prize if you hit the target. Thanks to Brent’s coaching, my daughter hit the mark and won the award. She also had a great time practicing law with Brent in his office.
Brent served for three decades as a member of the 12-person board of directors of the Federalist Society, a highly successful conservative legal organization. Brent has been an invaluable member of the Board of Directors, especially when addressing financial matters. He is a great and good friend.
Like his father, Brent wants to see more lawyers like Justice Robert H. Bork and Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court. Brent is a committed and committed originalist. If he is elected, Senate Republicans should give him back his father’s seat on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Like his father, Brent is a real fighter, but unlike his father Brent jokes all the time and can talk to ordinary Americans. Brent was the first person to tell me that he thought Donald Trump would win the presidency in 2016. Brent is actually much more conservative than his father, and he’s a real populist. This year the people of Utah have a chance to send the best possible Republican senator to Washington, DC. I sincerely hope that they take advantage of this opportunity to reward conservative talent and principles by electing a man I have known very well and admired for nearly forty years.
