Sydney has been rocked by another stabbing just days after the tragic attack at a local shopping centre.

Bishop Mari Emmanuel of Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley was the target of a violent stabbing while preaching at an evening service.

The attacker, dressed in black, approached the altar and repeatedly stabbed the bishop in the face and head in an attack that was inadvertently broadcast live on the church’s YouTube channel.

The gruesome scene occurred shortly after 7pm on Monday, leaving the congregation in chaos. Initial information indicates that at least two other people were stabbed as they attempted to intervene. Footage of the incident has since circulated online, capturing terror.

CLOCK:

A man was stopped by the police and taken to an undisclosed location for questioning. While the motives for the attack are still under investigation, the incident has sparked widespread outrage within the community.

Tensions escalated further when the community clashed with police, resulting in at least two officers being injured and police vehicles being damaged.

Officers were reportedly hit by objects, including bottles and bricks, thrown by community members attempting to confront the accused stabber, according to New South Wales Acting Deputy Commissioner Andrew Holland.
