Apple is reportedly in talks with Google to allow the iPhone maker to license and integrate its Gemini artificial intelligence engine into the iPhone, according to a Bloomberg report.
Gemini is Google’s suite of generative AI tools, ranging from chatbots to coding assistants.
Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, said the two tech giants are “in active discussions” for Gemini to power some new features that will be released on iPhone software later in the year.
Apple may launch iOS 18, its latest iPhone operating system, at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June.
Apple also recently discussed with OpenAI and considered using its model, according to people cited by Bloomberg.
However, the report states that “the two sides have not decided on the terms or branding of an AI agreement, nor defined how it would be implemented.”
Apple and Google did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.
