Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean finds buyer for his $3.5 million SoCal home

Pop singer AJ McLean lets go of the home he’s owned since 2015 in Westlake Village, California.

According to Realtor.com, the 5,330-square-foot Mediterranean villa listed in January for $3.5 million is awaiting sale.

News of the home’s sale comes just after the founding member of the Backstreet Boys announced earlier this year that he and his wife Rochelle were divorcing after 12 years of marriage.

In a post shared on Instagram, the couple said: “It is with deep love and respect that we have made this decision. Our goal now is to move forward in the healthiest way possible with our girls’ friendship and co-parenting at the forefront of the next chapter. We appreciate your kindness, respect and privacy at this time.

Despite what has certainly been a difficult time, all signs point to a happy ending to the quick sale of the McLean home.

“The house attracted a lot of attention and was snapped up after the first open house,” says listing agent Brenda Hayward, at Compass. “Buyers were overwhelmed by the open and luxurious primary suite.”

Renovated residence

The five-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom mansion underwent a large-scale renovation after being damaged by the Woolsey Fire, which caused devastation in Los Angeles and Ventura counties in November 2018.

“Unfortunately due to an excessive amount of ash entering our home, it has been deemed unsafe to live in at this time until all furniture, clothing, wallpaper and literally everything inside has been removed. cleaned and disinfected,” McLean shared on Facebook at the time.

Every surface in the house was cleaned and the bathrooms redone, Hayward said. “The kitchen and living room were also reconfigured to improve flow.”

A grand foyer with a high ceiling, spiral staircase, and dark wood flooring sets the tone for the rest of the casual California interior. The kitchen features designer finishes, custom cabinetry, a spacious island with seating for five, and high-end appliances, including a Wolf range.

Upstairs, the aforementioned primary suite sits behind French doors and is an oasis all its own. It’s not hard to see why buyers were dazzled by the enormous walk-in closet and spa bathroom.

There are four further bedrooms with private bathrooms.
