Ballard Fuel Systems (NASDAQ:BLDP) +6.1% on Tuesday, after announcing multiple purchase orders totaling 70 hydrogen fuel cell engines from U.K.-based bus maker Wrightbus.
Hydrogen fuel cell engines will power single- and double-decker buses in the UK and Germany.
Ballard Power (BLDP) said it expects fuel cell engines to be delivered in 2024 and buses to enter service in 2025.
“We are seeing wider market acceptance of fuel cell buses from European transport operators looking to decarbonise their operations with a technology approach that enables long range, rapid refueling and scalable replenishment,” the company said.
