In a call with reporters before the Mifepristone hearing at the Supreme Court, the Biden campaign and its surrogates broke through the GOP smokescreen by pointing to Project 2025.
Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden’s campaign manager, referred to Project 2025 as a global plan to take away reproductive freedom and Mifepristone from women: “Trump’s close advisors and allies have publicly released a global strategy to take away access to reproductive health care, including banning medical abortion and limiting access to contraception, without help from Congress. The President and Vice President are the only candidates who believe that reproductive health decisions are up to women and their doctors, not politicians or the government. This is what is at stake in 2024 and we will continue to ensure that every single voter knows this.”
The campaign aimed at Project 2025, which is Trump’s comprehensive presidential transition and political plan that outlines how Trump and his allies plan to take away women’s reproductive freedom and impose a national abortion ban without an act of Congress.
Later a reporter asked how Democrats can counter Republicans who don’t appear to have a unified plan on abortion.

Reproductive freedom for all President Mini Timmaraju said, “Number one, just to clarify, a 15-week abortion ban is still an abortion ban, and as we demonstrated in Virginia, Americans hate abortion bans. They won’t fall for it if they do
we’re not going to stand for it so we need to be really clear we know how to push back on a 15 week abortion ban and it’s a ban and there’s no room to cite compromise on this issue number one number two you know with or without unanimity in the GOP, if Trump were elected, he could still pass a national abortion ban without Congress
that was the point of talking about Project 2025 and the Comstock Act and all the other plans they have. Imagine how much more damage they could cause in four years if they were allowed to continue.”
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) was also on the call and warned of what congressional Republicans are targeting: “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans are prepared to use every tool at their disposal to control the women’s bodies – banning abortion nationwide, ending access to in vitro fertilization and even attacking access to contraception. We’ve seen what happens when Donald Trump and extremists get what they want: 10-year-old rape survivors are forced to travel across state lines to receive treatment. Mothers, hoping for a baby, heartbroken when the pregnancy goes wrong, walk away from the emergency room and are forced to wait until they are on the brink of death while doctors are prevented from helping. Families wishing and praying that IVF can help them have a baby have seen Republicans in Congress block a bill to protect IVF.
The Supreme Court hearing on the abortion pill is just the beginning. The Biden campaign is sounding the alarm that Project 2025 puts everything in writing.
The American people cannot afford to be fooled by any more Republican duplicity and smokescreens. Republicans have written down exactly what they will do if Trump wins, and it is up to every freedom-loving American to stop them.
