President Biden has been a staunch supporter of unions, resulting in record pay increases for workers.
Biden helps unions get record wage raise
Bloomberg reported:
Union contracts negotiated in 2023 gave workers an average wage increase of 6.6% in the first year, the highest average wage increase on record since Bloomberg Law began tracking union wage deals in 1988.
With signing bonuses and other lump sum payments added to the calculations, the average first-year salary increase in 2023 was 7.3%, also a record high, according to the latest quarterly employee payroll report Bloomberg Law unions.

The calculations for 2023 are based on Bloomberg Law’s analysis of wage changes reported in 952 union contracts ratified last year, totaling about 2.8 million workers represented by unions nationwide.
Because President Biden has supported unions and his actions as president to protect and encourage unionization, millions of workers saw the wage increase negotiated last year.
United Steelworkers formally supports President Biden
United Steelworkers President David McCall said in the statement supporting President Biden: “President Biden has demonstrated time and time again during his first term that he stands with working families. His vision and leadership have enabled our nation to strengthen workers’ access to collective bargaining, grow the middle class, and embark on a path to widespread prosperity. Our members have told us they value retirement security, affordable health care, and labor laws that support our ability to form unions and negotiate strong contracts. President Biden’s record on all these issues speaks for itself. He also outlined a strong plan to build on this momentum well into the future.”
Unions know that President Biden has stood by them and, more importantly, put actions behind his words.
Many Democrats only came to talk to unions when they needed support or votes, but Biden was there for unions because unions help people get to and stay in the middle class. Another Biden term could mean the resurgence of unionization will continue in the United States.
Biden’s policies equate to better wages, and that’s a message he can take to voters in November.
