KIEV (Reuters) – The death toll from a Russian drone attack on an apartment building in the southern port city of Odesa rose to 10 after rescuers found the bodies of another mother and child, people said on Sunday. the governor of Odessa Oleh Kiper.
A Russian drone crashed into a residential building in Odessa on Saturday. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said the casualties could have been avoided if Ukraine had not faced delays in delivering weapons.
“The body of another dead child has just been found next to the woman’s body. Preliminarily, the child is less than a year old. Rescuers continue to remove the rubble,” Kiper said on the Telegram messaging app.
The attorney general’s office said the 8-month-old was one of three children who died in the attack.
Zelenskiy on Saturday said a four-month-old and a two-year-old had been killed.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said Saturday that the child was found dead along with his mother and published a photograph of a rescuer next to a bloody blanket, a child’s arm visible from one side and an adult’s arm showing extends from the other.
Sunday was declared a day of mourning in Odessa.
