Well-known investor Chamath Palihapitiya recently shared the one question he asks the potential candidates he interviews in hopes of filtering potential candidates.
The only question: Palihapitiya said he has interviewed thousands of people across companies he has managed and companies in which he has invested.
When researching potential job candidates, Palihapitiya said he has a good method for finding the right candidates.
“There’s one question I always ask myself that I think is the most predictive of your ability to contribute at a company,” Palihapitiya She said.
The investor said he tells a candidate to take a few minutes to think about something he is an expert in and then explain it to him in about two minutes.

Because it is important: Palihapitiya said the question helps to find out whether the candidate has a clear mind, can simplify topics and can communicate correctly with another person.
Palihapitiya said the ability to communicate and get someone else on the same page as you can be determined by asking.
“And that’s a very powerful skill within a company,” Palihapitiya said.
The question also shows that people can “focus deeply on a goal.”
The investor also said that the question can help get rid of people who are educated or trained on how to conduct an interview or who may be too robotic in nature.
“It’s a huge filter.”
