Two of the main reasons Democrats give for why illegals are coming and why they should be granted asylum are climate change and “the chance for a better life”; essentially because they want higher wages.
In the past, none of these gave you the right to asylum. You basically had to prove that you were singled out for execution by a despotic government or that you were fleeing a real, verifiable crisis, not a made-up climate crisis.
If we allowed everyone who wanted to earn more, that would include most of the world’s population.
The United States has the eighth highest GDP per capita in the world, behind some very small but wealthy countries: Luxembourg, Singapore, Ireland, Norway, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Switzerland, which have a combined population of 37,600,000 people .
So, essentially, if the desire for better economic opportunities were a legitimate reason for seeking asylum, all but 0.5% of the world’s population could say that they would be richer by living in the United States. This means that over seven and a half billion people would qualify to come to the United States if the criterion was to be able to earn more.
Regarding climate change, they now use the term “climate migrants”. And to be fair, the climate is probably changing, but that doesn’t mean everyone should ask for asylum. Apparently, the climate is changing everywhere, including the United States, so coming to the United States would not help anyone escape climate change.
According to UN data, temperatures have increased by 1.8°C since 1951. Is man really aware of such a small change? And why would he force them to leave their home?
NASA data shows that sea levels are rising 3.4 mm per year. To put that number in perspective, New York City streets are about 400 feet above sea level. At the current rate of sea level rise, it will take 35,882.35 years for the sea to reach Broadway.
Of course, climate advocates tell us the increase is accelerating. It has doubled in the last thirty years. Assuming it doubles again in the next thirty, it will increase at a frightening rate of 6.8 mm per year. And it will reach Times Square in less than 17,941 years.
My God, will someone please think of the great, great… 718 generations, great-grandchildren of the children!
Illegal immigration has doubled in the last four years. Apparently, if climate change is the cause, then the effects must also have doubled or increased dramatically during that period.
One reason given is that Central America has been increasingly affected by natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods and droughts, which have displaced populations and driven migration to the United States.
Doing some research, you discover that Latin America has always had hurricanes, floods and droughts. Hurricanes occur annually between June 1 and November 30.
In fact, in 1899, Hurricane San Ciriaco hit Puerto Rico, and was the most destructive hurricane in Caribbean history, with heavy rains that lasted 28 days. Of course, the title of the most destructive or strongest hurricane is debatable. Some experts say the Great Hurricane of 1780 was the most powerful.
And there have been other hurricanes in the last two hundred years that qualify as having the most precipitation, the highest barometric pressure, the most wind, the most deaths, but the truth is, there have always been hurricanes. So they cannot be the cause of illegal immigration in the last four years.
Looking into drought, I found an article with frightening images of dry, parched land. And the text said: “Already this year, Mato Grosso do Sul and Sao Paulo have recorded the lowest rainfall levels in 20 years during the November to March rainy season.”
This confirms that 21 years ago there was a worse drought. Checking to see if it actually rains less, I discovered this from the EPA: “Since 1901, global precipitation has increased at an average rate of 0.04 inches per decade.”
Therefore, we have established that there is more water and more heat. So I wanted to check if there was even more food. And yes, agricultural yields around the world, including Latin America, have been trending consistently upward. So, to say that hunger caused by climate change has driven illegal immigration over the past four years is illogical.
According to the UNHCR, “by 2050, climate change could force more than 216 million people to evacuate their homes, leaving behind their current lives and livelihoods, and move to safer areas.”
Here’s the answer: People today are fleeing their homes, despite increasing rainfall and rising agricultural yields, because they know that by 2050, every place on Earth other than the United States will become uninhabitable.
There are two possible reasons why illegal immigration has doubled in the last four years. One possibility is that more and more people will wake up to the fact that outside the United States the entire world will be uninhabitable.
The other possibility is that there are TikTok and other social media accounts telling people, “If you say climate change, they’ll let you in.”
