Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said it is serious that top Republicans are using Russian propaganda to try to impeach President Biden.
Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez was asked if Republicans use Russian propaganda in the House and she responded, “Yes, I mean, I think if you open a House oversight hearing in the last year, you’ll see Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert and all these people engaged in wildly propagandistic rhetoric. And I mean, let’s rewind for a second, we just had an impeachment attempt against the President of the United States. It all started with a source used by the Republicans, who was in communication with Russian intelligence. So you don’t just have the bottom bench here, you have the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Representative Comer, taking, taking into account the quote-unquote evidence of someone who was working with Russian intelligence and trying to impeach and remove the President of the United States from this. This is serious.”
Colbert asked if Republicans knew this was Republican disinformation: “How did they not know, or know this was connected to the Russians?”
AOC said, “I think it’s a great question for President Comer because… it’s a good question because when they dragged us all into the SCIF, which is a confidential space to look into this, we were looking at this document and it’s like all this was real at this time and they proceeded and so what they felt was in good faith or bad faith. I don’t know, but I think it’s immensely serious that something has gotten to this point, has gotten this far and has been platformed, in the to the extent that it was. And fortunately, under the leadership of ranking member, Jamie Raskin, we were able to stop them in their tracks as well.”

Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez was right. House Republicans’ use of Russian propaganda is serious and should not be buried or forgotten. AOC raised a great point. We may be suspicious of whether or not Republicans knew they were using Russian propaganda, but the fact that they tried to impeach the president with Russian disinformation is important and should not be swept under the rug or treated as common knowledge.
Without Jamie Raskin and the talented House Democrats on the Oversight Committee, James Comer might have gotten away with impeaching Biden with Russian propaganda. Ocasio-Cortez was also important in this effort, and a serious investigation into Republican use of Russian propaganda is needed.
