The clerk of the House announced Monday that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has subpoenaed the House for the documents, which should probably worry House Republicans.
The clerk read:
The Honorable Speaker of the House of Representatives. Sir, We hereby formally notify you, pursuant to Rule 8 of the Rules of the House of Representatives, that the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Representatives has been served with a grand jury subpoena for documents issued by the U.S. Department of Justice. After consulting with the Office of the General Counsel, I have determined that compliance with the subpoena is consistent with the Rights and Derivatives of the House. Signed, Sincerely, William P. McFarland, Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Representatives.

The Justice Department could subpoena the House for documents on anything. However, former Congressman George Santos is reportedly trying to work out a plea deal with the Department of Justice, and the main investigation the grand juries are working on is Investigation 1/6.
The Justice Department is likely to have subpoenaed the House for documents related to the 6/1 attack. Such documents could be linked to cases against insurrectionists who attacked the Capitol or to the federal case against Donald Trump, linked to his efforts to illegally stay in power after losing the 2020 election.
No matter what it entails, the fact that the Justice Department is providing subpoenas to the House of Representatives should greatly concern House Republicans, who have sought to cover up and sweep the 1/6 attack under the rug.
The disclosure doesn’t mean House Republicans are under investigation, but it suggests the Justice Department is seeking more documents on something the legislature may have information about.
