The Republican National Committee, or RNC, has seen a significant shift in leadership dynamics Lara Trumpthe former president’s daughter-in-law Donald Trumphas taken on a key role within the organisation.
This move comes amid a debate among RNC members over the organization’s position on contributing to Trump’s legal costs, Reuters reported.
At a meeting in Houston, RNC members voted for the nomination Michael Whatley and Lara Trump as president and co-president of the organization, respectively.

“The goal of November 5 is to win, and as my father-in-law says, ‘big,’” Lara Trump said, according to Reuters.
He promised that “every single cent of every dollar raised” would go towards winning the White House, the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The reorganization led to Ronna McDaniel replaced as head of the RNC.
McDaniel, a staunch Trump supporter, has come under pressure to resign due to poor fundraising and a poor performance by Republicans in the 2022 congressional midterm elections, Reuters added.

Several RNC members urged the committee to assist in covering Trump’s legal costs, which have risen to hundreds of millions of dollars, including fines.
During speeches on Friday, neither Whatley nor Lara Trump explicitly addressed the issue, making some donors hesitant to contribute funds, Reuters added.
“Donors don’t want to pay some other rich guy’s legal fees. They want to help win elections, because that’s the RNC’s job,” he said Henry Barboura Mississippi RNC member who drafted a resolution prohibiting the use of funds for this purpose.
The resolution did not gain enough support to be put to a vote on Friday, Reuters noted.
