Dylan Mulvaney has officially turned on Bud Light and launched an attack on the brand after it refused to do a “healing” ad launched by the 27-year-old transgender influencer.
Mulvaney Launches Bud Light Commercials – Gets Shut Down
After costing Bud Light’s parent company, Anheuser-Busch, more than $1.4 billion in sales last year, Mulvaney had the courage to launch a Bud Light commercial that was supposed to bring “healing.” Of course, Mulvaney’s plan was to star in the commercial alongside a big “cowboy,” but Bud Light was having none of it.
While speaking at the SXSW festival earlier this week, Mulvaney chastised Bud Light for both not making the commercial and not doing more to stand up to “bullying,” according to the Daily Mail.
“I had an idea about how to fix the situation last year,” Mulvaney began, referring to the boycott of last year’s partnership between Bud Light and the transgender influencer. “I come from a comedy background, it can be very healing and can appeal to both sides.”
“I thought it would be funny if we did a Western commercial, where there was a cowboy at one end of a bar and a trans person at the other (end) and there was a beer in the middle,” Mulvaney added before whistle a western. style soundtrack. “Just because we could have a laugh and show that while these are all real-world things, there’s a little bit of compassion, we all like beer. It must not be separated.”

Mulvaney complains about Bud Light
Mulvaney went on to complain that after Bud Light’s backlash, “some brands didn’t even continue to talk to me.”
“I could have been an integral part of the solutions, but they continued: I think like a parent, if the parent doesn’t put a stop to something, the bullying can continue,” Mulvaney said. “These brands need to step up and let people know that this is not okay.”
“The brand needs to take responsibility to ensure protection and support, otherwise it will put marginalized groups in a really difficult situation,” the transgender influencer said.
Mulvaney concluded by saying that the goal is to bring “trans joy” to the world, and a trans rom-com may even be in the works, as the transgender influencer is currently “working on some things!”

Mulvaney had previously turned on Bud Light
This isn’t the first time Mulvaney has abandoned Bud Light, as the transgender influencer jumped ship almost immediately after the boycott began last year.
“For a company to hire a trans person and then not publicly support them is worse than not hiring a trans person at all,” Mulvaney said in a video posted to social media in June 2023, according to Billboard. “It gives customers permission to be as transphobic and hateful as they want.”
“And the hate doesn’t end with me. It has serious and grave consequences for the rest of our community,” Mulvaney added. “And we are customers too. I know a lot of trans and queer people who love beer.
Mulvaney went on to say that he was “scared” to leave the house and felt “a loneliness that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.”
“Turning a blind eye and pretending everything is fine is simply not an option right now,” concluded Mulvaney. “And you might say, ‘But Dylan, I don’t want to get into politics.’ Honey, supporting trans people shouldn’t be political. There shouldn’t be anything controversial or divisive about working with us.”
Mulvaney has become a major thorn in Bud Light’s side, and we can only imagine how much the brand regrets ever partnering with the transgender influencer. Ultimately, other brands should pay attention to what happens when a company partners with someone like Mulvaney!
