The Roadster electric sports car will finally be available next year, with “the production project completed and presented” in late 2024.

The Tesla CEO’s comments were added to a couple of posts on X (Twitter at the time) since 2018where he teased a “SpaceX options package” for the Roadster: “10 small rocket boosters arranged perfectly around the car.”

Musk, who also runs the commercial space exploration company SpaceX, reiterated in his Wednesday post that the Roadster would be a “Tesla/SpaceX collaboration.”

The ultra-luxury sports car was originally announced in 2017, but faced delays due to the COVID pandemic and resulting global supply chain issues. In 2017, Musk promised the Roadster would be on the roads by 2020, and in 2021 he updated to set a new target of 2023, provided 2022 wasn’t a “mega drama.”

“I think it has the potential to be the most amazing product demo of all time,” Musk posted, adding that users would love it more than their homes. One poster suggested he was making a “rocket on wheels,” to which Musk responded “of course,” saying the Roadster was aiming for a speed of 0-60 mph in less than 1 second.
