Fani Willis could reindict Trump and have charges dropped

Legal experts suggest that District Attorney Fani Willis could reindict Trump and re-add the dropped charges, though that could cause a delay.

Could Fani Willis reindict Trump?

If Willis wanted to pursue charges related to trying to get the officials to violate their oath of office, legal experts say he could reindict Trump and add the dropped charges back.

Renato Mariotti posted

In a trial that is expected to take a long time, would it be worth delaying proceedings further when there are still 35 charges pending?
In practice, the answer is probably no. The RICO-related charges are the big charges against Trump. There is no reason to reindict the former president and add such charges to the existing case. This is not a victory for Trump. The charges were dismissed on a technicality that prosecutors could have resolved if they had chosen to do so.

Today’s developments do not mean that Trump has been exonerated, or that he is out of the woods, or that he should question the remaining charges.

If Willis had wanted, he could have fixed the technical problems in his original statement and reindicted Trump and Mark Meadows on the same charges.
