New York Attorney General Letitia James won her other major case on Friday when the NRA and Wayne LaPierre were found liable for corruption in civil court.
What kind of corruption did the panel find at the NRA?
Via NBC News:
The jury ruled largely in favor of James, finding that the National Rifle Association failed to properly manage his nonprofit and its assets at any time between March 20, 2014, and May 2, 2022.
The jurors also determined that LaPierre, Phillips and Frazer all violated their legal obligation to fulfill the duties of their positions in good faith.

They said LaPierre caused $5.4 million in monetary damage to the NRA, but that he has already repaid at least $1 million of that.

Jurors also found that the NRA violated the law by not having a whistleblowing policy and that eight employees suffered as a result of the violation.
Attorney General James sued the NRA for rampant fraud and abuse in 2020
A jury agreed with her that the organization misused millions of dollars in nonprofits. It is astonishing that an organization as overtly political and partisan as the NRA is legally allowed to operate as a nonprofit. Former NRA chief Wayne LaPierre has already exited the struggling organization that has seen its membership and revenue decline substantially in recent years.
James wants the NRA disbanded and no longer allowed to operate in New York state.
The gun lobby front group continues to keep elected Republicans away, but the organization is in decline, and the incredible year that Attorney General James is already having continues with the removal of the NRA.
Trump family. State parties are important for House races and getting out the vote. Republicans are being blown out of the water by Democrats on the fundraising front, and are in serious danger of being organized on the ground in swing states.
All these seemingly small problems add up and lead to electoral defeats. The Republican Party is in disarray and that could cost them dearly in November.
