Ford stops shipments of electric F-150 truck due to quality issues

Oh alright. Old news from February 9th. Production of the updated ’24 Lightning began several weeks ago, they typically hold all new models for final inspections that last a few to several weeks, including the latest software updates, and finally ship them to dealerships in bulk once those pass inspections and completed all upgrades. Apparently it’s a relatively new policy at Ford to no longer ship vehicles to dealers until they all pass inspections and receive all upgrades. This is in contrast to the emergency process during COVID and the chip shortage, where they shipped incomplete vehicles waiting for minor parts or software updates, then shipped missing parts and new software separately to dealers when available, and it was up to the dealerships to carry out repairs. Ford started shipping the ’24 F150 a couple of weeks ago, but the Lightning remains on hold.
