While interviewing Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL), Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo tried to link the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore to the border.
Bartiromo said:
LAlso ask me your opinion on what is happening in terms of world affairs. The White House released a statement on the matter saying there is no indication of nefarious intent in the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The ship involved in the bridge collapse is 948 feet long and is called Dolly, a container ship flying the Singapore flag.
But obviously you talked a lot about the potential for malfeasance or the potential for foul play given the wide openness of the border. That’s why you were so adamant. Why have Republicans had so much difficulty securing this border? The president says he will not take his executive action. You know it.

Fox News has only one narrative for the 2024 election, and that is that everything bad that happens is President Biden’s fault, and Biden’s border policies are responsible for everything.
The border has nothing to do with an incident in which the container ship sent a distress signal because it was having trouble before hitting the bridge. That distress signal and the quick action of officials saved lives as they managed to keep people away from the bridge.
The FBI said there is no indication that the bridge collapse was linked to terrorism. What happened in Baltimore appears to have been a terrible accident, but Fox News never gives up on exploiting a tragic event to push its fear-based narrative about border hysteria.
