Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley uses Valentine’s Day to highlight the former president’s international relations Donald Trump, his opponent in the 2024 presidential race.
What happened: Haley has gone on the offensive in recent months, launching an ad campaign against Trump and the current president Joe Biden beyond their years with a parody of “Grumpy Old Men”.
For the Valentine’s Day holiday, Haley is on the offensive again. Her campaign has released several personalized Valentine’s cards for Trump to give to foreign leaders.
“Happy Valentine’s Day from Donald Trump to dictators around the world! Over the years, Trump has professed his love for the world’s most brutal dictators and praised their strength and leadership skills,” reads the campaign Haley, as shared by the New York Post.
Here’s a look at Valentine’s Day.
“Roses are red. Violets are blue. I love dictators and they love me too,” is addressed to Trump himself.
Another Valentine’s Day is destined for the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un from Trump: “He wrote me some beautiful letters, and they are amazing letters. We fell in love,” the Valentine’s card reads.
Another note is addressed to the Chinese president Xi Jinping of Trump: “He is as strong as granite, he is strong, I know him very well, Chinese President Xi… what can I say: he leads 1.4 billion people with an iron hand,” the Valentine’s card reads.
According to the report, the quote comes from a Trump rally in Iowa in 2023.
Another valentine is addressed to the Taliban from Trump: “The Taliban, good fighters, I’ll tell you, good fighters. You have to give them credit for that. They’ve been fighting for a thousand years. What they do is fight,” the valentine reads .
Another Valentine is addressed to the Russian president Vladimir Putin from Trump.
“I called Russian President Putin to congratulate him on his election victory. The fake media went crazy because they wanted me to criticize him. They are wrong!” Valentine’s Day reads.
The Trump campaign pushed back on the attack with a response criticizing Haley.
“Nikki ‘Birdbrain’ Haley has a minor league brain in a major league world. She is simply too stupid to understand that President Trump has brought peace and prosperity to the country,” Trump’s spokesperson said. Steven Cheung he told the Post.
Haley wasn’t the only one to use Valentine’s Day to remember Trump’s relationships with foreign leaders. Trump’s former press secretary Antonio Scaramucci underlined the relationships.
“This Valentine’s Day: ask yourself why Trump has an unconditional love affair with dictators? Because he wants to be one. He wants for this region of the world the control that Putin has over the Eurasian plain”, Scaramucci tweeted.

Because it is important: The valentines highlight the relationships Trump has built with several world leaders who have proven controversial and have had complicated relationships with the United States in recent years.
Many of the valentines use direct quotes from Trump at past rallies and events, which could be used by Haley to highlight Trump’s relationships with the people in question.
Haley’s homemade valentines come as Trump recently made questionable remarks about NATO members. Trump said he would encourage Russia to do “whatever the hell they want,” including targeting members of NATO allies of the United States.
Trump stressed the importance of countries paying for protection.
“Everyone will pay,” Trump said earlier.
President Joe Biden scolded Trump’s comments such as “stupid, shameful and anti-American.”
