Here’s a point I made back in the 2020 primaries: Joe Biden’s age also means he has the most experience of any candidate, at a time when our country was crumbling under the weight of Trump’s corruption, which it was widespread in every department and in fact, throughout the country even in the states.
THE Houston Chronicle Editorial Board is endorsing President Joe Biden, citing the leadership “of the oldest and arguably most experienced president in American history,” writing “the White House team over the past three years has functioned remarkably well, despite the rancor and divisions they have plagued this nation for nearly a decade.”
They highlight Biden’s dedication to government: “The achievements of an administration dedicated to government, which believes in the power of government to make life better for the American people, is a major reason why we wholeheartedly support President Joe’s re-election Biden. The other reason, equally important, is to reject the chaos, corruption and danger to the nation that would accompany Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
This point is one you might miss if you watched cable news or read the New York Times. The seriousness and weight of a president’s job seems to have been thrown out the window in favor of a money-making entertainer for the elites, and perhaps this explains the reluctance to significantly emphasize Biden’s economic policies.

After all, yesterday, while covering just one of those policies, it occurred to me that they prioritize the foundation of our economy: the working class. It can be successfully argued that this is actually something that trickles down into the economy and creates a solid building block for security. But why should billionaires and millionaires care about this? It would seem like nothing to them, because they are not the people struggling to pay the mortgage, child care, groceries, and gas. Yet, these same people focus on Trump supporters claiming that they have been left behind economically – a matter Joe Biden’s policies actually address the issue. However, we hear very little about this issue they claim to care about.
The editorial board lists many of the Biden-Harris administration’s accomplishments, which frankly are too long to list (and this is also an issue that Democrats increasingly struggle with as they pass meaningful, grown-up, mature legislation in a media environment that favors TMZ politics). reportage on dramas and conflicts).
They note, quoting the brilliant former Republican strategist Stuart Stevens, Biden’s fight for freedom against tyranny: “The Biden administration succeeded in organizing and leading an allied response to the invasion of a neighboring democracy by a brutal dictator. As Ukraine desperately tries to hold off Russia’s invasion, Biden is, in the words of former GOP member Stuart Stevens, “taking the side of freedom against tyranny in Europe’s largest land war since the Second World War.” World War”.
This comes at the same time as news that not only is Team Trump working hard on the alarming “Project 2025,” led by Paul Dans and intended to dismantle the freedom that US supporters around the world talk about, but also that an influential think tanks close to Trump are plotting to inject Christian nationalism into his administration and are also advising Project 2025.
They note Biden’s “decades of experience in the Middle East,” contrasting it with Trump’s lack of “patience or skill to play a significant role in resolving a fiendishly complex crisis.”
But they also mention something that will resonate with most voters who pay attention to politics, but who have become obsessed with it during Trump’s chaotic tenure out of a sense that at any moment an imminent threat to our way of life could emerge, going back to what Steven said. in The New Republic: “One of the greatest gifts of a democratic civil society is the freedom not to think about government, to wake up and not worry about a leader’s mood. Joe Biden has made government boring and predictable, both fundamental rights of people in a healthy democracy.”
Yes, we shouldn’t feel like we’re on a cheap amusement park rollercoaster and watching the foundations crumble. We should elect competent people with whom we can disagree without fear of being persecuted or targeted for harmful audits (I’m not bitter, okay maybe I am).
We should elect non-reality television leaders like Joe Biden, so that we can move on with our lives and focus on our families and careers and plan a vacation without fear of the country being in such upheaval. sure (Trump’s mishandling of Covid should be the end of any idea that Trump should return to power).
Serious newspapers like the Houston Chronicle understand what’s at stake. We don’t have to agree with everything President Biden has done, nor should we! – Realize that he is actually doing an incredible job.
Just a few days ago, Trump was ranked the worst president ever by presidential scholars and experts of all political ideologies, while Joe Biden was ranked 14th, and this just three years into his first term.
There is absolutely no comparison between these two candidates, except for their age. They are both old. They are both in the same age range, as pointed out by AOC, who said they could have gone to high school together. So why are we inundated with a press that seeks to focus primarily on Biden’s age without equivalently focusing on Trump’s age? They may have realized that they can’t take either side on supposed points of objectivity without finding some Biden flaw to obsess over, but on that they should have learned the folly of their ways in 2016.
Governing is a serious matter. For anyone actually paying attention, the idea that there is some sort of decision to be made between Trump and Biden is terrifying.
The Chronicle notes, “We are reassured in large part because Biden has restored the tradition of a capable team running the White House, a tradition trampled by Trump’s deeply flawed plan to run a one-man show.”
