An illegal immigrant caught at the southern border reportedly admitted to being a member of Hezbollah with plans to travel to New York and “make a bomb.”

The terrifying story of Basel Bassel Ebbadi, a 22-year-old illegal immigrant from Lebanon, was first reported Sunday by the New York Post.

The newspaper obtained a document from the US Border Police which summarized a “terrorist threat” issued by Ebbadi to the staff.

The illegal alien, according to the document, “claimed to belong to a foreign terrorist organization.”

This organization is identified by the Post as Hezbollah. The group recently expressed support for Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel in October 2023. These attacks resulted in the deaths of more than 1,100 people, including 767 civilians and 36 children.

When “asked what he was doing here in the United States,” Ebbadi replied, “I’m going to try to build a bomb.”

Internal ICE documents obtained by the Post Office appear to point to a man who claimed to be an inadvertent terrorist. In an interview with officials, Ebbadi said he “didn’t want to kill people.”

Furthermore, he suggested that he belonged to the terrorist group that “once you’re in, you can’t get out.”

Ebbadi wasn’t just a recent recruit. In discussions with officials, he admitted to being a member of Hezbollah for several years.

The focus of his mission, according to the Post, was on “jihad” and killing people “who (were) non-Muslims.”

Pouring over the border from the Middle East

Shortly after the terrorist attacks in Israel, The Political Insider reported on Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data.

According to available data, thousands of illegal immigrants from the Middle East have been arrested at the southern border in the last two years.

The numbers showed that illegal immigrants were crossing the border from numerous countries known to harbor terrorists.

Shortly after that report, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump unveiled a sweeping platform designed to prevent “anti-American and anti-Semitic foreigners” from continuing to infiltrate the country.

If elected, Trump promises to implement “strong ideological screening” for all potential immigrants. Those with known sympathies for jihad and Hamas are automatically disqualified under this plan.

This latest alarming news of an illegal immigrant planning to build a bomb in New York is deeply troubling. This comes at a time when border agents are seeing an increase in encounters with individuals on the terrorism watch list entering the United States illegally.

Furthermore, this alarming trend raises serious concerns about potential threats to national security.

The incident highlights the need for increased security and vigilance measures to prevent potential threats to public safety and national security.

And it is important to remember that Ebbadi is almost certainly one of many others. Others, who escaped detection, entered the United States illegally.
