The Republican push in the House to impeach President Biden appears dead, as at least 30 Republicans oppose the president’s impeachment.
Politico reported comments from Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE):
“I know there are about 20 Republicans who are not in favor of impeaching Biden. Mostly because what he did smells bad, it looks bad, but when you ask them what crime was committed, they can’t tell you,” said Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.), a vulnerable purple district incumbent who had raised doubts about Mayorkas’ impeachment, but ultimately supported this effort.
Bacon estimated that at least 30 House Republican lawmakers may currently be against impeaching the president because they have seen no evidence of any crimes. Private briefings to update members on the investigation have not swayed those holdouts, and Republicans know it only becomes more politically risky to try to impeach Biden as he heads into an election year — perhaps giving the president an electoral boost even if there they succeeded.

Opposition to Biden’s impeachment among House Republicans appears to be growing. For months, there have been 20 members who have opposed the President’s impeachment, and they have been unswayed by private briefings, public pressure and the “evidence” Comer has presented of what he claims are Biden’s unimpeachable crimes.
Donald Trump wants President Biden’s impeachment. Republican voters want President Biden’s impeachment. The only problem is that there is no evidence that Joe Biden did anything wrong.
Without evidence, Reps. James Comer (R-KY) and Jim Jordan (R-OH) have been flailing around trying to piece together bits of unrelated information to build a case for Biden’s impeachment that would at least survive an impeachment vote on House Floor, The end for Biden’s impeachment came when the FBI arrested Comer’s key witness who claimed Joe Biden took a $5 million bribe for lying to them. Comer attempted to continue the investigation, but scrubbed evidence of corruption from the impeachment website.
The Biden impeachment investigation is one of the most embarrassing failures of the House majority in congressional history. Instead of addressing issues that matter to the American people, House Republicans spent more than a year and millions of taxpayer dollars on an investigation that went nowhere.
