Wipro (WIT), India’s fourth-largest IT services company, said on Saturday it has appointed insider Srini Pallia as its new chief and CEO, succeeding Thierry Delaporte.
Pallia’s appointment takes effect immediately.
Pallia is a longtime employee of the company, having joined Wipro (INTELLIGENCE) in 1992 and most recently serving as managing director for the company’s operations in the Americas.
The company said Delaporte will resign “to pursue passions outside of the workplace.” His five-year term was originally scheduled to end in July 2025.
“Over the last four years, Wipro (WIT) has undergone a major transformation in the most challenging external conditions. Srini has been an integral part of this journey,” Rishad Premji, president of the Indian company, said in a statement.
“Thierry will continue until the end of May, working closely with me and Srini to ensure a smooth transition,” Premji added.
