When First Lady Jill Biden headed to the ultra-liberal state of Vermont for a fundraising event on Tuesday, she probably didn’t expect to be greeted by angry protesters. Unfortunately for her, however, that’s exactly what happened!
Protesters target Jill
My NBC 5 reported that when Jill arrived in the city of Norwich for a fundraising event, she was no doubt shocked to find pro-Palestinian protesters who were quick to roll out an unwelcome carpet for her.
“We wanted to roll out the ‘inhospitable mat,’” Nancy Welch, organizer of Tuesday’s protest and a member of Upper Valley for Palestine, told the Valley News.
“The Biden White House has not listened to the voices of the majority of Americans who are appalled by the ongoing massacre in Gaza and want an immediate and permanent ceasefire,” he continued.
“We are very troubled by the Biden administration right now as they continue to aid and abet what we believe is genocide,” added Hayden Smith, a member of Upper Valley for Palestine.

The protesters “tried to be as loud as possible”
During the private fundraising event Jill attended in Norwich, they used hearing aids as pots, pans and musical instruments as they marched through the streets of the city to let the First Lady know that she was not welcome there.
“We tried to be as loud as possible, because people are trying to get the attention of the White House and the federal government and they’re just not being heard,” Welch explained. “We would have used our noise and our numbers, creating our ruckus to disturb the peace of people who are probably enjoying sumptuous hors d’oeuvres while people in Gaza are starving.”
“We are using every mechanism at our disposal to make our voices heard; we’ve been protesting for months,” said Rowan Wade, another Upper Valley pro-Palestine protester. “We were protesting before October 7th. We will protest until there is a permanent ceasefire and until there is freedom for all Palestinian people.”
Protesters have made it clear that each presidential candidate’s position on the war in Gaza will have a major impact on how they vote.
“To get my vote, Joe Biden really needs to change his policy ASAP,” said Liz Blum, of Jewish Voice For Peace.
Protesters concluded their protest with a final chant before reconvening on Norwich Green to express hope that Jill had heard their message loud and clear.

Jill had previously been targeted by protesters
Jill has found herself becoming a frequent target of protesters as she desperately tries to campaign for her husband. Earlier this month, a speech she was giving in Tucson, Arizona, on women’s issues, was interrupted by anti-Israel protesters, according to The Hill.
“Jill, when will you and the president call for a ceasefire in Gaza?” one of the protesters stood up and shouted, while another added: “This is genocide committed by our tax dollars: women and girls who matter.”
All of this should just show Jill that her husband isn’t as popular among Democrats as she’d like to believe. If she can’t even make it through a fundraising event in the incredibly liberal state of Vermont without being targeted by protesters, her husband’s re-election chances certainly don’t look good!
