Karl Rove, a former top adviser to George W. Bush, remains a loyal Bush-Cheney Republican through and through. Most of that crowd doesn’t like Donald Trump. I agree with Democrats that the January 6, 2021 riot on Capitol Hill was an “insurrection” against the federal government.
Needless to say, Rove has little sympathy for some involved in the chaos of that day. Even those who receive severe sentences for relatively benign crimes.
However, Rove wants to go even harder on what he calls these “thugs” and “sons of bitches.”

Rove insists on hunting them down. And incarcerate them.
Trending Politics reports: “While appearing on an MSNBC panel in front of a live audience, network host Ari Melber asked the former Bush official what was the best way for Democrats to attack Trump in 2024. Rove responded by enthusiastically stating that focusing on January 6 provides the best path to President Biden’s victory in November.”
“If they were smart, they would take January 6th and run with it. And they would say, ‘do you want to forgive these people who attacked our Capitol,’” Rove added.
“Trump has promised to pardon the vast majority of the 1,400 people arrested in connection with the January 6 protests,” he continued. “Hundreds of protesters have been sentenced to long prison terms due to the government’s use of an obscure legal theory used to charge defendants with the crime of ‘obstruction of an official proceeding’ when they would otherwise be charged with lesser crimes.”
But Rove doesn’t care. She wants to go hard with them.
No wonder he wants to incarcerate them.

“We should find them, try them and send them to prison”
“To me, the United States Congress is one of the great examples of the strength of our democracy and a jewel of the Constitution. And what those people did, when they violently attacked the Capitol, to stop a constitutionally mandated meeting of Congress to accept the results of the Electoral College is a stain on our history,” Rove said.
“And every one of those sons of bitches that did this, we should find them, prosecute them and send them to prison,” the former Bush lawyer added, drawing applause from the MSNBC audience.
Karl Rove’s audience is now closer to MSNBC Democrats than the Republican Party. As a result, he found the perfect place to make these observations.
So it should probably just stay there.
