After Bud Light partnered with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney in April last year, singer Kid Rock kicked off a highly affective boycott of the brand by posting a video of himself blasting cases of Bud Light on social media. Now, however, it appears Kid Rock is trying to backtrack months after saying he forgave Bud Light.
Kid Rock backtracks on Bud Light boycott
During an interview with popular podcast host Joe Rogan, Kid Rock described his viral Bud Light video as a “machine gun tantrum.”
“So, what’s it like being the guy who took out Bud Light?” Rogan asked.
“Man, I was just having fun, to be honest with you,” Kid Rock responded. “I was pissed, but I didn’t think it would ruin my day, let alone my life. I just thought, ‘What the fuck are they doing?'”
Kid Rock went on to say that while he doesn’t think he was the “pied piper” of the backlash, he feels he is the “face” of it.

Kid Rock befriends the CEO of Bud Light
“Throwing tantrums with a machine gun? ‘Wah, wah, they want boys to play women’s sports, wah,’ ” he said, adding that he has since become friends with Bud Light CEO Brendan Whitworth.
“We became friends. He’s a good guy. After five minutes of talking to him,” Kid Rock continued, explaining that he met Whitworth at a UFC event he attended with former President Donald Trump last year.
“I’m like, ‘Man, you seem like someone I would want to be friends with, hang out with.’ And he goes, ‘You would, that’s what I’m saying.’ And I go, ‘Well, come to Nashville, come see me.’ Heck, I did! He came with the better team than him… we broke bread, we got pissed off with Bud Light, we bowled, we did all this fun stuff,” he stated.
Kid Rock concluded by saying that he and Whitworth had talked about ways he could collaborate with Bud Light. However, Kid Rock ultimately decided not to move forward because he doesn’t want to sacrifice changing his brand or his image for a deal. That said, he and Whitworth are still “talking” and Kid Rock wants it to be known that he no longer has anything against Bud Light.

Kid Rock forgives Bud Light
This comes two months after Kid Rock asked for Bud Light’s forgiveness.
“Do I want to hold their heads under water and drown them because they made a mistake?” she said in December, according to The Tennessean. “No, I think they got the message.”
Kid Rock went on to say that it is primarily the working class, the “people who have no weight in the struggle,” who are ultimately harmed by things like the Bud Light boycott.
“They messed up, they made a mistake,” he said. “I do not care anymore.”
The Daily Mail reported that Bud Light lost nearly $30 billion in the ten months after partnering with Mulvaney. Kid Rock can backtrack on the brand all he wants, but it seems the vast majority of beer drinkers still feel Bud Light doesn’t deserve to be forgiven.
