Kyrsten Sinema’s departure is great news for Democrats

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) may have killed any Republican hopes of winning a Senate seat in Arizona by deciding not to run for re-election.

Sinema posted on X:

Senator Sinema said in part:

Because I choose civility, understanding, listening, working together to get things done, I will leave the Senate at the end of this year.

Compromise is a dirty word. We have come to that crossroads and chosen anger and division. I believe in my approach, but it’s not what America wants right now.

Kyrsten Sinema is not leaving due to the current political environment. He’s leaving because he doesn’t have a path to victory in the Arizona Senate race. Sinema thought she was the new John McCain and greatly overestimated his strength with the Republicans.

Democrats are still angry at Sinema for scuttling several policy priorities and burning every possible bridge with the party.

The best chance Republicans had to win Arizona’s Senate seat was a three-way race between Sinema, Reuben Gallego and Kari Lake. Without Sinema in the competition, Gallego should have a much easier time beating Kari Lake.

Sinema is getting what she deserves. Kyrsten Sinema sold out the Democrats in Arizona and now his political career is over.
